HIV Prevention Funding Cuts

Today, May 30th, 2025, The Wall Las Memorias will lose close to $800,000 in funding for HIV prevention and testing services due to the federal government cutbacks.

Although Congress had already appropriated these funds, the Federal Health and Human Services Department failed to release the funds to the Los Angeles County Public Health Department for disbursement to local non-profits like ours.

For that reason, we will no longer have the necessary funds to continue HIV testing and prevention services as they currently stand. However, we are committed to finding the ability to continue these life-saving services for as long as possible through alternative means.

Since January 2024, we have conducted over 3,315 HIV Tests, linked 43 individuals to HIV care services, and provided sexual health and empowerment workshops to over 123 young gay and bisexual men. Our communities depend on free HIV Testing and prevention services to stay healthy and thrive. We will not give up on our community!
