About

The Wall Las Memorias (TWLM) is a community health and wellness organization dedicated to serving underserved populations through advocacy, education, and leadership development. Anchored by the nation’s first publicly funded AIDS monument, TWLM harnesses the power of memory and place to inspire healing, deepen awareness, and drive lasting social change.

For more than 33 years, TWLM has worked at the intersection of public health, equity, and community voice. The organization confronts stigma and bigotry head-on, creates safer spaces for dialogue and connection, and builds a community  that empowers people to speak out and take action against health and social inequities in our community.

TWLM’s programs reach low-income and hard-to-reach communities throughout Los Angeles, delivering services in HIV and AIDS education, substance use prevention, tobacco cessation, and non-binary health and wellness. We also address mental health stigma among LGBTQI2-S transitional-aged youth (TAY), helping young people access support, personal growth and pathways to wellbeing.

Partnering with leading institutions, TWLM supports cancer research initiatives that seek to confront, and ultimately eliminate, health disparities affecting marginalized populations.

At the heart of TWLM’s work is an unwavering commitment to inspire and cultivate civic participation within the communities we serve, especially among our youth. TWLM creates pathways for community members to strengthen their leadership capacities, deepen their understanding of public health and social justice issues, and recognize their own power to influence change.

Through grassroots organizing and engagement at local, state, and national levels, TWLM leads critical conversations in public health and social justice. We work to ensure that community voices are not only heard but centered in shaping equitable systems of care.

Our Mission
To provide access to culturally responsive services that prevent disease and promote wellness; to uplift the voices of marginalized communities; and to use The Wall Las Memorias AIDS Monument as a catalyst for healing, unity, and action. We strive to bridge and faith communities to foster inclusion, end stigma, and build a healthier society for all.”
