TRANS HEALTH

Transgender individuals face a multitude of health issues including a high risk of HIV infection, low rates of preventative cancer screenings, and rejection from some providers when seeking healthcare. Discrimination is one of the worst barriers transgender people face in their everyday lives.

Since 2014, The Wall Las Memorias (TWLM) has offered services to transgender persons which have included healthcare referrals, counseling, and linkage to hormone therapy. Today, our Trans Health Program aims to reduce the health disparities experienced by transgender women of color. To address their physical health and wellness, we provide free HIV testing, linkage to care, and preventive health resources such as PrEP and PEP.

 

AVAILABLE SERVICES

>> Free Rapid & Confidential HIV & Hep-C Testing - Our testing counselors stand ready to provide a compassionate and understanding environment where transgender people can be tested for HIV and Hep-C.

>> Linkage to Care - All of our programs offer linkages and warm connections to appropriate physical and mental health care, including preventive services like PrEP and PEP.

>> Community Engagement - Look out for our next community event for the transgender community, where we will build community and encourage each other to live our authentic lives.

>> Peer Counseling - Transgender health specialists are available to provide culturally competent counseling and support.

>> She Her Hers Support Group - During weekly meetings, transgender women of color come together to support each other with a compassionate safe space for growth and leadership development. She Her Hers meetings are currently on hiatus. For information or support please contact [email protected]

FREE HIV TESTING

TWLM offers free HIV testing by appointment or by walk-ins Mondays - Fridays from 9am - 5pm. To make your appointment with one of our friendly HIV testing counselors click on "Schedule An HIV Test" above or email [email protected] for an at-home HIV testing kit (delivered free of charge).
